Tyro, Sunderland

We are mid construction of a luxury 36 bed student accommodation located in Sunderland’s city centre.

With our boutique interiors inspired by the building’s varied uses dating back to the early 1800s, we provide a fresh & considered space in Riverlow’s first Student Living property.

With a site that just keeps on giving in both real time & history, our interior is set against a backdrop inspired by the site’s original 1850’s ‘Drapers’. Here once stood one of the largest department stores in the North of England with front of house showrooms finished to a most elaborate scale. In 1915 it became Havelock cinema and was known as the best around.

The opening of the then world-famous Wearmouth Bridge in 1796 provided opportunity for the Fawcett family to develop their land to provide smart terraced housing for the prosperous merchants & businessmen of Sunderland. By the late 19th century, Fawcett Street had developed into Sunderland’s major commercial thoroughfare.

We are honoured to bring homes back to this area with 36 self-contained studios at high level. A variety of studio apartments & shared cluster flats give our students a choice of settings to live, study & socialise in a clean, safe environment right in the centre of Sunderland and close walking distance from campus with striking views of the very Wearmouth Bridge.

The scheme will feature oversized studios, fitted furniture, designated work areas in addition to communal social and play zones
